I got Death Star, Fury and this book for Christmas. Natually you all can guess which one I dove into first.
I'm about 8 chapters in. So far it is holding my interest but it seems a bit simplistic. At this point in the book they have really only wrapped up the Battel of Ruusan that was started in the first book. I'm having a little trouble seeing Zannah's motivation for going Sith. I can undestand her anger and fear, but her reasons for deciding to be Sith are about as sound as Anakin's were.
Also, Bane just got infected with the crustacean armor. Somehow that whole chapter seemed paraphrased by something I have read before.
I think the parts where Karpyshyn is able to creat new story details are well written. It's the parts that are made to fit into existing storylines (i.e. the Battel of Ruusan, and Bane's armor infection) where he seems really hampered by the existing story. I'll be glad to get past the next chapter into new territory and see what he does with it.

Bane's parasite armour reminds me of the Vong....
