http://www.starwarscelebration.com/ you can go there and get facebook, twitter, email updates Aug. 12th-15th Edit: So, do you think it's best to just get a hotel now or wait until they announce which one they've made a deal with and try to get that discount rate? I'm going to add a driving map for convention center, it also lists hotels near by: http://www.occc.net/pdf/Map_Web.pdf

I have one room reserved at each of the following Days Inn - across the street - $60 /night Red Roof Inn - about 1 block - $50/night Sleep Inn - about 1 mile (15min walk) - $64/night I think I am going to keep the Days Inn and cancel the other two. I have two dbl beds. I've already talked a bit with Neil & Phil so we have room for 1 more if you guys are still in. Days Inn still has rooms.

I would try for it now, you can always cancel the original reservation, or maybe they'll give you the lower rate later.

I got check in the 12th and out the 15th. Do you recommend I change? Is there likely to be a lot going on early on the 12th?

I'm planning to come in the day before because I'll most likely be helping with some setup stuff. At CIV, I helped set up the X-Wing and the Rebel
Legion booth. The convention officially starts Thursday morning at 10am, but if it's anything like CIV, there will be unofficial fun stuff going on
Wednesday night.

so, I just tried to make a reservation at the Day's Inn and found out that the first selection means you have to pay for the room right now...OOOPS!! I was able to get that to get cancelled after calling and speaking with a few people. Bah, my plan was to stay at the Marriott cause that's where the points for my CC are at, but there's not one close by and the closest one that is there isn't on the Marriott's website for some reason...so all those point scrounging for nothing (sniffle) I'm feeling squirrley!!

Sorry Jim. I got caught in meetings all afternoon. Yes the one Brian posted is the one I got. It is a 5 sunburst rating (whatever the hell that is). They say they are across the street from the convention center. I will change my dates, though I may not go down on the 11th. Heidi wants me to add a day or three on the back end to so she can come down after the con. ?? Guess I need to figure that out before I book a flight. BTW - all three hotels I spoke with asked what convention this was for, and they had nothing about it in their systems yet.

Wow, I get stuck in meetings all day and the biggest Star Wars news of the year comes out. Orlando in August, ugh. At least I won't have to worry about sweating my bum off in armor. Look on the bright side, at least it's not LA. It would be nice to have something within respectable driving distance on MN someday though.
