Clone Wars Premier (8/15) - MARCUS ULTRA CINEMA AT OAKDALE (12:01 Showing) |
Lead | |
|
If anyone has a particular theatre that they would recommend for trooping the premier of Clone Wars, plesae post the name and location and why you think
it's a winner. I started to make some contacts after our planning meeting but it was just too soon for anyone to talk about plans. Now that we are
getting closer I'll fire up the planning machine again.
Thanks Neil

We did Coon Rapids for Episode III. That was fun and a big crowd.
A few of us met MN Jones at the Regal in Eagan for Indy IV. Very nice threater, but nobody showed until well after 11:00. There was never even a line to get in. I'm guessing that was due to Fandango? I wonder if Eden Prarie would be interested, since we would give them additional visibility in the mall. They would probably have the same mall security concerns as MOA. My $.02

There is the AMC in Arbor Lakes ... Kinda Mall'esque ... but without the hassle?!
I went to both Eps II & III there (albeit as myself) ... lots of people and plenty to do before & after! I like the E.P. idea as well ... or where ever ... "Shikin Haramitsu Daikomyo" It means(Japanese): 'Every encounter is Sacred & could present the one potential key to the perfection of the great Universal Enlightment we seek' |

So sad, but I will not be joining you guys at the premier. I will be watching it in Georgia.

I'll be remote, too. I'm hoping that the International Falls (AKA Frostbite Falls) theater is showing it so I can show up in costume. They've never
seen anything like that before, I'll bet!

To Sith's Herald:
You sir, are an idiot. That thread will be hopelessly outdated, like your wardrobe, before day's end. As I do not wish to completely hijack the thread, I will make my opinion (which, as Emperor, is law) known. All the the aformentioned theaters have three major problems. 1. They all have stadium seating, ensuring an unencumbered view of the screening to all present. 2. The floors, unlike theaters of days gone by, are not hopelessly sticky with the accumulated spillage of soft drinks and other unnamed fluids. 3. They lack the odor of mildew and unwashed humans which, upon leaving the theater, you find to has permeated your very soul, leaving you with the desire to endlessly wash. A desire which verges on obsessive compulsiveness. All three of these items are critical to effective theater operation. For by being forced to sit through sub-par films while enduring these factors, one cannot help becoming depressed and unhappy. It is a commonly know fact to dictators galaxy wide that depressed and unhappy people are easier to bring under the yoke of control. And isn't bringing the population under control the real goal here?

I was talking to a friend, who is a manager at the Arbor Lakes theater in Maple Grove. He is going to talk to a few folks out there and see what the interest
level is to have us. that is of course if that is the theater we want to go to.

Talk with Neil and coordinate it between the two of you. I believe he said he'd look into theaters, if Maple Grove works out, that would be great. I
believe we'd get a good showing at the theater.

I have been to every movie theater in the twin cities area and there is only one movie screen to see STAR WARS: CLONE WARS on, and that's the Marcus
Ultrascreen in Oakdale. It's the biggest!!! And the best sound!!! I have talked to the manager Dave, and he said we can be there all day, like at noon and
watch Star Wars movies and cartoons in the party room! We can also have trivia and what-not. We can turn it into a big Star Wars party. Let me know what you
guys think. I don't get on here to often, so try to contact me by myspace if you can.

As far as where to see the movie, I'm sure everyone has their own favorite spot. However, if we are talking about trooping at a theatre, where we patrol
the doors and occupy the lobby, I would recommend Wynnsong Theaters in Mounds View. 93X does something there almost every weekend and they appear extremely
open to extracurricular ideas when it comes to movie premiers. They already receive a bunch of publicity as it is.

Yes, finding a theater that will endorce trooping was the plan. Looks like we have a couple good leads here.

Well I talked to my friend at the Maple Grove theater. He said they would "be fine" with us coming out for the premiere. But, they aren't
interested in making any big plans for/with us. So if there is another theater that wants to do a big ol' event thats more what I would like to pursue.

I thought I'd post here too. I had volunteered ( in the drive-in thread) to talk to the folks at the Cottage Grove drive-in, since I live in the area.
They directed me to Steve Mann of Mann Theaters. He said he would have a list by the end of the week of his theaters that will be running the movie. I will
post that list when I get it. He remembers the MN Force from the last time we did a Star Wars premier and said we are very welcome to visit any of this
theaters.

The best bet is still Marcus theater Ultrascreen. Bigger than Wynnsong, the picture is much clearer there, and better sound! The lobby is bigger and I know
for a fact that the Manager Dave will be more than happy for us to be there. The only way to do the STAR WARS CLONE WARS justice is to host the event there.
Check out the theater if you guys don't believe me It's the best!

So, Has Lucasfilm made any requests on this yet? It would be nice to do a Midnight somewhere - and maybe a daytimeish apperance for our younger fans? There are
a couple of Mann's around the cities and that might be another avenue

Reb, LFL has been scouting the 501st doing an inventory of Clone Troopers, so I suspect any official LFL event will be focused on those costumes. However, I have seen nothing official yet, so we will have to wait and see. Regarding theater location, I am agnostic, but am still following up with Mann to get the list of their theaters that will be showing this. I got the impression from them that they weren't sure how widely the are going to distribute it, since there hasn't been much LFL promotion for it.
