I don't know about Luke, but Han and Leia should try to successfully raise a son.

Han: Han can't ever die, I'm waiting for him to show up in the Legacy comics (maybe after spending some time in stasis).
Leia: Goes Sith, gets taken out by Han and Luke. Luke: Dies taking out Leia.

My Turn - My Turn!!!
Han: Trade in the Millenium Falcon for something a little more 'Green' ... say a Toyota PRIUS. You know that ALLIANCE pension isn't really tied into a Cost of Living Adjustment and the Falcon is a Fuel HOG! Leia: She should Produce & Star in her own 'Reality' show that would aire on the FOOD NETWORK of HOLONET ... the concept is this pretencious pastry chef ... all the cakes would be based on her various hairdos Luke: Luke really ought to pick up those Power Converters at Tosche-Station! Do you know how long that poor shop owner has been hanging ontothat inventory ... I mean its completely depreciated in taxble value! To leave that guy hanging for so long is in just plain BAD TASTE my friend! Batman, Superman, James Bond... Etc have all re-booted more times than I can count right now over the years and continue to be very successful. You can have
the same characters ending in the same relationships. just the how/where wand what they did together changes.
I am kind of thinking this is where the EU needs to go. Re-boot and re-tell instead of end. Do we need to read their death? I can skip it. I like jumping into the future like they did with the Legacy comics. Jump way past their end and let their end be unknown but if they want to continue I think they should re-boot before their end. |

But George has been overwriting the EU anyway.
I am not saying re-boot the movies or anything George has done. I am saying re-boot the post ROTJ EU. Now with more information so to speak from the period prior to ANH they would be able to tie everything together better and I think we could end up with a better version of those characters total lives than what we are running with now. |

Well I think the biggest thing would be Luke's life. His journey to Jedi master, his jedi abilities, and his knowledge of the pervious orders mistakes and fallings. It just makes no sense now that Luke had to operate in the blind for so long. That's just the whole point. They could tell much better storys of the 25-40 year old Luke Skywalker now that they couldn't do then because they were so unclear about what a Jedi was.... what a Jedi could do. More knowledge of his father. More knowledge of Obiwan yoda's presence in his life. More in tune with his power early on. Let's face it. Luke was really badly handled in most of the early EU. They have greatly improved him in more recent EU but that's because writers now know what an ass kicking Jedi Knight was and looked like.
I'd love to have great stories of swashbuckling Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker at 30ish saving the galaxy from evil, macking on Mara Jade, and basically outflying everyone and anyone in his Xwing. I mean sure they can do that but as it stands right now they need to try and shoe horn it in between all the other books written in that time frame that show us a Luke who is not exactly the badest bad ass in the galaxy. I just think that'd be easier to do if they just started over. But we don't have that. We have a nutered Luke who isn't very awesome until he's 60 years old. So he's awesome at 25 when he helps defeat
the empire and Jabba the Hut, a whimp from 25-50 and then awesome again at 60. I just think they can do better than that.

I agree 100% with everything you just said JD. Everything! I just started reading Shadows of Mindor. It seems like a great place to re-boot to me.

Let's plan a coup d' etat. I say burn half the post ROTJ EU and start over. Luke still marries Mara Jade and they had Ben. Han and Leia had Jaina
and Jacen. Jacen stayed a peaceful, animal loving, force user and Jaina became "The Sword Of The Jedi" after having to kill the Solo family cat named
Anakin for his malicous behavior toward Lando. Jacen tried to interfer but was disctracted by a butterfly floating in the wind. Anakin the cat always had an
ill favored purr

He isn't really a "Big 3" character since we know he's still around during Legacy, but what Doug said about Luke's abilities during most
of the EU applies to Artoo as well. How much different would his participation in most fo the EU have been if he could fly (along with other abilities) all
along?

I'd like to see them do some revising on Luke at the 25 - 50 age range. The Old Republic Jedi are so much cooler. Luke should have found out about them at
a younger age. The Skywalker twins should have been younger when they found out about their parents, too, not in their 50s.

I can just imagine a continuity nut going nuts over an EU reboot!
I agree that it would be nice to retro-upgrade Luke's skills in his middle years, though. Also, as much of a train wreck as the lives of the poor EU characters might be sometimes, the melodrama is gripping (most of the time). |

Really, they wouldn't have to disregard what has been written. They could just do some more stories in that time frame. Of course, they could forego the
kidnapped Solo kids plot lines. I believe we've had enough of those.

This is kind of a thread hi-jack, but I'd like to see more Vader stories from between EP III and EP IV. I am re-reading all of the Legacy of the Force
novels right now, and I'd forgotten about the two Vader short stories in the back of the Betrayel paperback. I'd like at lot more details about things
like the Outer Rim Sieges and things like that.

I Don't know if it's going to be about Vader directly but the TV series they are planning was suppose to be set between III and IV. I assume the
stories have been written anyway. If the TV series doesn't get off the ground I am sure we'll see those stories worked into books at some point.
