Yes! Finally!
My favorite part was when Vau and Ordo were talking about Mird's nest building for Kad/Venku. The revelation that Vau asked for Kal
to be one of the Cuy'val Dar against Jango's better judgment was a very telling moment in Kal and Vau's friendship. Also, Darman's reason for
staying with Niner and not leaving for Mandalore with his son and newly dead wife tore out my heart. All-in-all, best book in the series followed by Triple
Zero.

Finished it last night....wow...just wow!!! Can KT spin a tale or what?? I put her on the same level as Zahn...very few authors can get that kind of gut
wrenching reaction from me out of a book
For me the kleenex part was not the death of Etain (that actually made me mad...it was like she wanted to die ) but it was everyone REACTION to her death...especially Kal's. I knew how much he loved his
boys...but I didn't realize he cared for Etain as much! The parts where they bring her body 'home'....wow....several Kleenex for me.
So...has everyone noticed that there seems to be alot of women heading to the compound? Even Kal has a new woman Besany's friend will end up with one of em.
I think Sev is ok....they just needed to keep the plot thick for the NEXT BOOK ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
I think Scorch will desert....which makes me think....I was shocked that one of Baylor's commando squads showed up as deserters!!! Vau really showed his soft part in 66...especially when Sev went missing!!! I agree with you Darman...Dar's reasons for staying with Niner really showed his dedication to his brothers...and made Delta look bad. I just love this series....kinda like and X-Wing series...not main characters...great writing...characters can die at any given moment...lots of action!!! I'm so glad this is continuing on as Imperial Commando series

Etain's funeral was really emotional, especially Kad's reaction. When he gave his toy nerf to her just before she was cremated...

Karen gets all the little details right that heighten the tension and make the pacing and everything else seem so real.

I had time to let it soak in. I loved the whole series except Etains death. I hope to talk to everyone about everything at bookclub on the 9th.

When's the book coming out in paperback! Im dying to get it, but don't want the hardcover. (Cause the other books are soft cover, I'm weird like
that.) TF.N doesn't say anything, neither does Barnes and noble's website. grrrrr...

I just finished it last night. I ended up only having time to read at the end of very long days, so I usually did not get through a chapter at a time before
getting so tired I found myself rereading sentences four times.
Anyway - my thoughts... You all know I am a huge Zahn fan. KT eclisped him completely. Whereas Zahn, Stackpole and Alston have all developed wonderful long lasting characters and incredible stories, Traviss has created a complete sub-genre within the SW genre. I realize she didn't invent Mandos, the Fetts, Shysa, etc. but she has breathed such life and detail into all of it that it feels like it has always been a part of the SW universe. I think she was masterful at bringing together all of the Mando elements from the Dark Horse and Marvel comics. In addition the length to which she has developed language, culture and characters is on par with the works of Tolkein and Rowling. This book was the pinnacle of the series. As far as the story, I guess my guess about Skirata was wrong, but keeping him alive keeps the saga moving forward. Some of the great deaths in the expanded universe include Chewbacca and Ganner Rhysode. While Etain's death did not involve moving planets or defeating an army singlehandedly, her death and the subsequent chapters evoked more of an emotional response than any other SW story I have read. It was difficult to keep reading through Skirata's (and the others') heartache. The downside to reading something this well done, is that the next few books I read always fall flat by comparison.

Well said Steve! I completely agree with you on everything. KT has the ability to just create a new character and get the reader so emotionally attached to
them!! Even in Hard Contact I was just rivited to my seat worrying that one of Omegas would be killed (this is the only book series that I have ever cheated
in the middle of the book jumped ahead to read the ending to make sure everyone lived
).
Many people hate KT and pound on her that she is 'anti-Jedi'. I don't think she is anti-jedi...I think she just believes that there are other cool culutres/characters in the EU other then just the Jedi and she has chosen to tell their tale. I find it a refreshing change ![]() ![]()

I guess I'm not sure she's anit-Jedi, so much as pro-Mando. She writes the Mando view of the Jedi. I thought it was interesting though, in Order
66, how when she singled out one famouse Jedi for being a showboater and Prima Donna, it was Kenobi and not Skywalker. All of the otehr EU books hinted
that Anakin definitely got top billing on the holonet hero news.

KT is pro-Mando/clones not anti-Jedi. She made a point to say when the Jedi(Bardan/Etain) and their abilities were missed by the clones. She realizes the value of a good Jedi. Although she did call Kenobi names and I'm still PO'd about Etains death. She created a whole new universe inside the EU so I will over look those 2 things for now.... Awesome job KT.
